Individual Therapy
Welcome to Mind Body and Spirit Therapy! I'm a holistic psychotherapist, who uses an integrated approach. Had enough talk therapy? Want to explore experientially? You are in the right place. I also have extensive training in earth-based spirituality which I like to integrate into sessions for those who find that resonates. Additionally, I welcome all spiritual traditions and find them a significant resource for my clients during experiential therapy.
Experiential Interventions
Somatic Awareness
Tuning into the body's wisdom to process emotions and experiences held in the nervous system.
Mindfulness
Cultivating present-moment awareness to gently observe thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help process and release traumatic memories.
Somatic Movement
Using movement as a pathway to emotional expression, integration, and healing — no dance experience needed.
Guided Imagery
Harnessing the imagination to access inner resources, promote relaxation, and support healing. Often done with live drumming to soothe the mind and connect.
Sand Tray
A creative, symbolic approach that allows the unconscious to speak through natural objects in a tray of sand.
Earth-Based Spirituality
Drawing on nature as a resource and support, we can connect with the earth, including sacred places (parks, important places to you personally, your home), animals, and the elements (earth, water, fire, air) to hold you in your challenging times and help remind you of your potential for transformation.
Additional Therapeutic Interventions
Other interventions that are woven into our sessions are:
- Narrative Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Solution Focused (SF)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Somatic Movement Exploration
My therapy office is in a studio with a large space to explore with movement. You may have heard of the book The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk (on the New York Times bestseller list for years), it identifies how we store our anxiety, stress and trauma in our body and by accessing it through somatic exploration we can better understand our inner conflict and challenges and find empowerment, hidden answers, and peace. Most people have no experience with this, so I will show you each step of the way.
What is Dance/Movement Therapy?
The American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) defines dance/movement therapy (DMT) as “the psychotherapeutic use of dance, movement, body awareness, and embodied communication to foster healing and well-being for individuals, families, and communities.”
In addition to being a licensed therapist, I recently completed the 2 yrs of coursework required to be a DMT by the ADTA. I’m currently a DMT intern in offering DMT to individuals and groups in my private practice. It is not necessary for clients to have any previous dance experience, we will mindfully move together. DMT is combined with talk therapy to explore topics and process experiences.
